Hanoverian Freikorps Stockhausen, 1759–1762
In 1759, Major Heinrich Ludwig von Stockhausen raised a Scharfschützen-Corps in the Solling hills and Weser Uplands, which initially consisted of a grenadier company and two companies of foot Jägers, and was expanded in 1760 to include two squadrons of mounted Jägers. At this time, Stockhausen‘s Sharpshooters had a strength of 440 foot and 200 mounted Jägers. The Stockhausen Sharpshooter Corps actively participated in operations of the allied army commanded by Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick until it was incorporated into Freytag‘s Freikorps in March 1762.
