Monk

Monk (from Latin monachus), in the Roman and Greek Catholic Church, a male person who, withdrawn from the world and in community with others, engages in ascetic practices according to certain rules (monastic rules) and lives according to the vows of poverty, chastity, and unconditional obedience to the commands of his superiors (monastic vows).
