Poseur
Poseur (French), poser, pompous git (cf. Pose).
The ESCI Russian artillery officer pictured here is not the only 1:72 scale poser showing off his silly “one-armed telescope pose”. The pose looks soooo heroic, but it provides no reconnaissance results when the long, heavy military telescope is rammed into the eye with just one hand. The proper distance between the eye and the lens can only be maintained with two steady hands or with a tripod. In the film “Dances with Wolves”, Lieutenant John J. Dunbar shows how to properly use a telescope.
