Rōnin
Rōnin (“wave people”, meaning “wandering journeymen”), the Japanese term for samurai who had lost or resigned from their service and now wandered the country without a master. The 47 rōnin, who sacrificed themselves to avenge the death of their former lord, are the heroes of the famous Japanese tragedy “Chushingura”.
